ASA Meeting with ASA and ASTRA at Eurofins

What exactly must be considered when an electric vehicle needs an approval for road traffic? What is permitted and what is not? What is dangerous and what is harmless?

These fundamental questions were answered by Urs von Känel (EMV) and Diego Gauch (Safety) from Eurofins. Informative lectures as well as practical demonstrations on an electric vehicle explained the topic.  The e-rod of the innovative company Kyburz served as a demonstration mobile on site in the one semi-anechoic chamber (EMC) of the Labor Rossens.

The 15 participants of the ASA from various cantons were very motivated and thankful to get an insight into the measuring and testing routine of the Eurofins Electric & Electronic Product Testing AG laboratories.

Why is equipotential bonding important? What does an emission measurement look like? And for what reasons are these and many other points important for every participant regarding safety in everyday traffic? This means for passers-by, cyclists, motorists, young or old, public transport, as well as in connection with a possible event (accident) also for animals and the environment.

The attendees were so interested that there is now a demand to sensitize and train further persons of the Swiss Road Traffic Offices. The aim should be that the staff members who ultimately have to make the decision about the respective admission can make this decision with a clear conscience and a trained eye. Training should be provided directly at the respective cantonal locations where the Road Traffic office is located.

The event not only fascinated the participants, but also the Eurofins instructors. It even advanced the two further: Seeing from the perspective of questioners and learning from the knowledge of others was very valuable. In the end, it is always a matter of growing together.
